I just wanted to express a thank you on behalf of myself, the team, the inkers, and mod JimmyT, to Jay who has almost-exclusively been the artist alley ink room sounding board for all displayed ink samples. Take a bow, Jay, you're sincerely appreciated!

I second that. Jay has been very gracious in critiques on my samples everytime I post here.

He is a busy, in-demand guy and could be using any available time to attack the deadlines or go elsewhere but he makes a point of stopping by when others are not. That's community dedication! But if anyone can find other pros to critique here as well, it could give the Jayman a deserved break;-)

You can always count on a C&C from Jay. Now if I could just get him to come up for the Emerald city comicon, I'd buy him a beer as thanks.

Yes, I'm sorry I didn't think of that thread myself - Jay's a great help to us aspiring inkers! THANKS MAN!

Thanks guys, It actually helps me to get on here to look at others work. It's a nice break from the actual inking. Gotta give my hand a few minutes to heal. Gotta drag Johnny D & some of the other inkwell reg's over here. It feels like that list has slowed a bit & the boards could use them. Jay

Hear hear! Jay's critiques have been fantastic and greatly appreciated - it's often difficult to get feedback on artwork from a working professional due to the demanding schedules and deadlines - let alone in a comic specific field such as inking! Anyhow, I'd just like to reinforce what the other guys here have already said: Thanks Jay! :-D

I just joined this board the other day, haven't even had a chance to post anything yet, but I've noticed all the C&C here. I'll toss my hat in the 'thanks ring' as well. I find is as useful to read critiques of other people's work as well as my own (good advice can be applied anywhere after all), and having such a list in one place is very helpful to an aspiring inker!

Welcome aboard, Jeff! And thanks for the commentary as Jay would surely appreciate it. I hope your stay will be informative.

I can't believe I missed this thread!
I am no professional, but Jay takes the time to read and reply to every question I have had that he can answer. It reaffirms my faith in a business that I have seen diminish a bit since it grabbed my imagination as a child. Actually...seeing the free flow of ideas and styles on this forum with a complete lack of ego or malevolence is a refreshing change from the rest of the world. I especially enjoy the well thought out critiques (for which Jay is famous) and how they are meant to inform rather than dishearten the creator.
I don't know why inking grabbed me like it did, but I sure am happy it did! And I am glad you guys (and gals) let a novice tag along
Thanks for all of your help and guidance Jay!
B

Inkers are brethren. We have enough against us that we can't afford to not help our own kin;-)

Haven't signed in in a little bit, sorry. I just wanted to add my thanks to this thread and share a little bit. Jay has taken the time to not only help me with comments and critiques online but took time out of his day at a smal convention in Nashville to show me some stuff using the crow quill (still can't quite get it to quite work correctly for me, Jay) and a gift of a pen and a few nibs. Jay has always taken the time to try and work with me and has been uber-supportive. Can't say enough good things about the man.
