I know that both myself and Julien are heading to 'Brum this weekend (3-4th October) in the UK, but thought I'd flag it on here anyhow in case any other European Inkwell counterparts are planning on attending! More info can be found here: www.thecomicsshow.co.uk/

Hey! How was the convention for you? We really had a great time! James Hodgkins was great with us - very kind. And we had great nights in Birmingham - who could have thought there was so many pubs, there? Did you manage to show your portfolio? Unfortunately, Marvel UK/Panini wasn't there...

I had a great weekend too cheers man! Sorry I didn't txt you, it ended up being a bit of a hectic one, although I did manage to get in with Titan, 2000ad and DC. I wondered where Panini were! Had some great feedback (esp. from Michael Wright) - How did you get on?
We ended up going to a Jazz club on the Saturday night - there's plenty to do in Birmingham (makes up for it being a horrible looking city) so it was a bit of a late night to say the least, but it makes it all the more fun. I clocked SpiderGuile was there, his work looks even better on paper than it does on screen!

Yeah, it was crazy for us, too...
In fact, I spent the 3 days with the French crew - Guile, Guillaume, etc.
Outside the convention, we were with James Hodgkins, Staz Johnson, Mark Buckingham, Steve Pugh... It was a really nice week-end! Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to see much of Birmingham.
I've met Michael, on Sunday. He seemed happy! I've heard he talked about me to Charles Adlard, too... I guess it's a good sign! We'll see how it evolves...
Regarding Panini, I had some people on the phone telling that it couldn't be helped but they had to cancel at the very last minute. It's sad, they're all very nice... Next time in Bristol, I guess.
As for 2000AD and Titan... Do they hire inkers? I've met 2000AD in Bristol in May but they told me they were lookng for "complete" artists (pencils + inks)... Wee you luckier?

Yep - now it's a case of playing the patience game and following up at the right time I guess! 2000AD really liked my work but mentioned the same, that they didn't hire inkers very regularly - they did however ask me for a pencils sample as they saw a page I'd dropped into the back of my folio which was cool, so I've got a script to be working on for that. Titan again went very well, but it's difficult to judge from their properties how much they use inkers.
I'll keep you posted man, but I'm hearing rumor at the moment that a Marvel editor might be up in Leeds in November for the 1 day Thought Bubble convention which could be worth the trip up for?
Right, back onto finding submission details and emailing the online folio link!
