That's your cue, Damon;-) ~B~ It is indeed! Jerry is one of my relatively new online buds, and he's a great guy. I can't wait to see who he's got lined up in the future to give us some cool Spider-Man/Nightwing pairings. I even forgive him for commissioning Whilce Portacio and Sal Buscema when I haven't. ;D

Well, if Damon's not going to expose himself -- as much as our female readers might welcome that -- I suppose I'll leap in. I'm Michael Rankins, and I'm a comicoholic. (Hi, Michael!) I've been reading comics for more than 40 years now. (I started young.) About five years ago, I began collecting commissioned art, and have amassed a decent little gallery in that time. Although I collect images of my favorite hero (the Black Panther) and several of my favorite heroines (most notably Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Storm, the Scarlet Witch, Mary Marvel, and Ms. Marvel), my best-known collection is Common Elements, which presents unique pairings of (usually) unrelated superheroes who share some feature in... well... common. My second themed gallery, Bombshells!, showcases superheroines from the 1940s and '50s in pinups modeled after World War II bomber nose art. My blog, SwanShadow Thinks Out Loud, spotlights art from my collection every Friday -- hence, we call them Comic Art Fridays. (Clever, no?) On non-Fridays, I babble in allegedly serio-comedic fashion about pop culture, current events, and whatever else comes to mind. When I don't have my nose buried in a comic book or art portfolio, I'm a writer, public speaker, and voice actor. I'm also one of your moderators on this forum, so be nice to me, and order me pizza. And please don't challenge me to a game of Trivial Pursuit. I was an undefeated champion on Jeopardy! back in the day, and I'll kick your butt good.

Hey Damon, I'm going to have to agree with Bob. You have one of the more interesting galleries among collectors, so let people know why. And those of us who know you know that you can type a sentence, your commission descriptions are the best!

We've had some new members join the forum in the last couple of months....any takers to posting a roll call introduction announcement? Who are you? If you're a pro creator we'd love to hear what you're now working on (and if you already posted but you are doing something different now, please let the gang know and plug your project!)

I had the pleasure of meeting you, Bob, at HeroesCon. You kindly looked at my inking and I gave you a copy of my comic book, The Signifiers. Thought I should introduce myself here. I've been writing, penciling, inking and lettering comics for over 20 years, lettering for Dark Horse and Paul Pope's Horse Press. I recently colored a Beetle Bailey drawing by Mort Walker for a charity. My passion, though, is inking - my own pencils and others. I'm always studying my favorite inkers ( Caniff, Frank Robbins, Mike Royer, the great J. Sinnott, etc.) wanting/needing to learn more (and slowly, hopefully, I do!). I'm looking forward to learning more here, passing on whatever advice or insight I can give, discussing techniques and supporting, when possible, the Inkwell Awards as this is an often misunderstood profession. I'm hoping the sample drawing I attached comes through. Michael Neno www.NenoWorld.comAttachments:

And it surely did, Michael! For those who never met him, if my memory serves, Mike is a classic-style inker inspired by the works of Kirby, Toth, Nino, and the folks he mentioned, and it really shows in his work and is worth a check out. Thanks for signing up and checking in to the roll-call thread, compadre! We are eager to hear more from you in artist alley and other rooms! Bob Almond www.inkwellawards.comwww.almondink.com

Hello, inkers. I'm Jeff Austin, another inker-embellisher. Somehow this site has escaped my attention all of these years, but I've finally found you. I've been bouncing around the field as an inker for 20 years now, working on a variety of books. In recent years I've worked on FemForce for AC, Ripperman for JGM, and a host of other books. My blog found it's way into the inker's database before I did, and I'm mighty thankful of that. Inkers are greatly misunderstood and undervalued. I believe inkers make or break a comic. It's an enormous responsibility, and I take it seriously. If only we could open reader's eyes to our contributions. Anyway, I'm glad to be here. I look forward to talking with other inkers.

Hello, my name is Michael W. Kellar and I have been attempting to ink comics since 1993 after getting out of the U.S. Navy where I spent time overseas in Operation Desert Storm with the US Navy. I have worked for several independent comic companies, including Gravitywell Productions, NouVeau Studios, and Jolly Rogue Studios where I got to sling ink for the first 4 issues of Sky Pirates of Valendor along with the #0 Issue from the 2007 Small Press Idol Contest that is hosted by Dimestore Productions every year. I make my home in North Carolina with my fiancée, her son, and my three kids. Also, I am a Contributor to the Inkwell Awards, I will be contributing as the "Small Press & Independent Artist Liaison/Database." I look forward to a long association with Bob Almond and the Inkwell Awards as well as doing my part in helping Inkers (Small Press & Independent) be recognized for their work. I guess that is it for now...unless something new and exciting happens ;o)
