Hey guys,
I re-watched the Joe Weems Gnomon DVD the other day and was reminded of the opening section on getting started.
I was just wondering if anyone had any particular routines or warm ups they did before sitting down to ink a page?

I try to draw circles with the nib or brush until I can do it in one stroke, then I'm ready to ink. My wrist is loosened up from that little exercise.

Wow... I can't do circles in one stroke... Never... Warm or not... I'm amazed!

Yeah I usually start by gouging the paper but by the time I'm done I should be just barely holding the pen and barely touching the paper surface. The brush is a little easier as I just need to not grip it too tight and just let the spring of the bristles finish the arc instead of twisting my arm around. They aren't perfect circles , mind you but they are complete circles that touch point to point. That's the trick, getting the points to meet up.

I just start by outlining blacks. Never been a warm up guy. I do however need to warm up when pencilling.
