I understand that Matt Herring & brian LeTendre had more coverage, specifically of the material above, at their Secret Identity Podcast about 3 weeks ago but they regrettably didn't send the issue # my way. If anyone knows....
Bill Cox posted an announcement about our Dave Simons auction in his Thursday, October 1, 2009 Comic Art Fans Gallery newsletter
"The Inkwell Awards have initiated a scholarship fund annually for students in financial need at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art in the honor of Dave Simons (pictured with Bob Almond), Inkwell Awards committee member and friend who passed away last June after a long illness. This fund is approved & supported by Dave's sister Bette and we are running fundraising auctions for it with several excellent pieces of art generously donated by artists throughout the comic book community. Click here to read more."
In the 78th issue (cover-dated June but it came out last month) of the long-running CFA-APA (Comic & Fantasy Art-Amateur Press Association), at 395 pages they have dedicated the issue to The Art of Inking. There's a 7 page interview with me talking about, well me, and The Inkwell Awards, as well as IA winners/nominees Tim Townsend, Dexter Vines and many others. There's a very limited amount of copies in circulation (50+) but sometimes they wind up on eBay (I was fortunate to get a comp copy). The Inkwell Awards site was given permission to post the front & back covers and my interview and Danny will upload that as soon as he can.

Our good friend Mr. Bob Almond sent us a quick update about a very special project that he and the crew at the Inkwell Awards have been working on. Here’s what Bob had to say:
We have successfully met our $1000 goal for the first year's Dave Simons Inkwell Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Joe KubertSchool and we thank everyone for their support in helping us get to this exciting point. We will be taking a two month break from further eBay auctions but in January we will run more of those great sketch cover and card donations (plus signed prints, remarked books, original art, and more!) that you all love bidding on to further raise funds for traditional Inkwell Awards operational and trophy costs for 2010, our third consecutive year, all generously donated by the many supportive artists from the New England Comic Con and Boston Comic Con. You can book mark our eBay page at (http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/theinkwellawards ) and check back in the new year.
