A few more. This was the first time I was working George Perez's artwork (for real anyway). This was the last set of pages I had from Hi-Fi in what I had come to call Hell Week. I had about 3 hours of sleep a night, worked my day job on top of coloring, and my wife and her son were both sick. Deadlines and extra pages of True Blood and JLGL #24 didn't give me as much time with these as I would have liked but it was still a HUGE thrill to be able to work these pages. George Perez has been my favorite artist since I was a kid, so this was pretty special.

Booster Gold #44 is on the stands now! Dan Jurgens returns to his creation, and I was psyched to be able to color a couple pages of it. Booster debuted while I was a freshman in high school, and I instantly thought he was the coolest character out there. I remember when I was drawing and creating my own characters, there were a TON of Booster rip-offs going on in my costume designs. LOL While I was partial to the smoother rendering on his costume, Dan thought it would be a good idea to change it up and move in a different direction with how his costume is rendered. Brian Miller came up with the more solid look to the highlights on the costume, and I think it still works well and looks cool. What do you think? True Blood #4 is on sale now! C&C's always appreciated. Art by Joe Corroney Colors by me Hey Ross I am by no means a pro artist, much less a colorist, so please take this as an amateur critique and please let me know if I am way off base. The male figure in panels 1 and 2 seem to blur together and form a really weird shape. I couldn't put my finger on it until I noticed as he looks out the door, his back is in shadow(making the light source outside), but when he turns into the house to see the girl, his back is in shadow as is the heroine's back...making the light source indoors now. Also looks like inconsistent light source in panel 4. Just confusing to my eye. I have to say, everything else you have placed up here for review is really top notch to my eye. I think you have a great feel for mood and setting without gutting or obscuring the line/ink art. All around great job! Brian

No, you're totally right. This page was a mess from the start, and I didn't really do a whole lot to help it. In my defense on panels 1 and 2 though, the lineart kind of flip flops lighting direction going from the upper left and behind the two standing outside to the upper right coming from the top of the stairs. I just chalked it up to the guy shutting the door between panels. LOL If I had that to do over again though, I would have cast the characters in the foreground of panel 2 in a little bit more blue to avoid that weird join between panels 1 and 2. Panel 4 is all on me though. I didn't keep the light very consistent there. I should have probably flipped the lighting on the male characters. It would have been fighting the lineart a little, but at least it would have been consistent with Sookie and the other lady if I had placed the lightsource between them.

Quick color commission of a John Byrne drawn Gladiator. I could never figure out why I liked this character, but I always did. Just something cool about a mowhawk, I guess. C&C's always appreciated. Lines by John Byrne

Colored this little beauty for the back cover of the Sniper and Rook trade paperback coming out from Beta 3 Comics. I was originally just supposed to color Sniper and Rook and a bit of the background, but since Battle of the Planets was my favorite cartoon as a kid, I couldn't pass up doing the whole thing. Of course, I probably should have colored the background and stuff on a different layer, but I wasn't thinking that day so I colored the image as is, and then went back and removed all of the Gatchaman characters and drew in the missing background afterwards. *sigh* C&C's always welcome! I did some more work on this one with all of the feedback I received in mind. I think this image works much better.
