Hey guys, I thought I'd start a thread to ask around if anyone is looking for pencil pages from any artists in particular in case we can help each other out :-) To get things going, I'm currently chatting with an editor who wants to see some samples over Alan Davis and Stuart Immonen pencils - I think I've found some OK res Davis pages, but I'm really struggling to find anything suitable for Immonen (I sent a quick email to Stuart to ask if he had anything he might be able to send me, but he declined) - Does anyone have anything they might be able to help me out with here? Cheers and I hope we find this 'swap thread' useful!

Yes, that's a great idea this topic! Some artists are quite difficult to find... After a quick search, I could find only a few pages of Stuart Immonen and the larger one may be a little bit too small to print... fc03.deviantart.net/fs42/f/2009/146/5/7/Ult__Spidey_pencils_and_inks_by_Splotchy77.jpgConcerning Alan Davis... He may have the same point of view as Stuart Immonen: I've met him in Birmingham and showed the Vampirella pin-up he pencilled and I inked... He was not very happy I printed his pencils... There is a disclaimer on his website. Well... I guess the only thing to do is NOT to show him your work.

Oh by the way, if people have pages by Tony Harris on Ex-Machina for example... Or Steve McNiven...

I thought I saw some Tony Harris pencil scans in the back of one of the Ex Machina trades, but I just checked and they were way too small to enlarge sadly. I'll have a root around though - I'd love to see some Steve McNiven pencils too!

If I can find some, I'll share, I promise And if people have pencilled pages by JH Williams III, I would love to give it a try! Especially his pages on Promethea. Maybe I should contact Mick Gray and ask... Jim told me his pencilled pages were scanned on his old computer and he has no easy access to them... Perhaps Mick still has them...

Hey Tom, I'd ask the editor for samples. If they really want to see your take on a specific penciller then they should be able to find a page or two for you to use. Some artist really don't like their work being used with out their permission, so if Stuart declined to share then I'd move on and try and find someone similar. I know Alan Davis is of like mind so finding pencils of either won't be easy. Eddy Barrow's recent stuff is very Davis-ish. I'd try him out. eddybarrows.deviantart.com/gallery/#_browse There are a lot of guys on DA who are more then willing to share pencils, just ask. I'll try and post links whenever I see something new, like the Ryan Benjamin stuff I posted last week.

I have an Alan Davis Union Jack costumer design page that is pencils only. Nothing sequential, but there is a rather cool detailed Davis image on the page.

Im Surprised a bit by Stuart. I guess he found his guy. I know he's super loyal to WVG & has used SLaP a few times before.

Well, as per Stuart's suggestion I went to one of the art dealers, and they're very kindly sending me a couple of scans. I can understand not wanting to share hi-res scans, and I think he'd previously had bad experience with randoms on Deviant Art. Anyhow, I should have something to ink soon :-)
Cheers for the suggestion of Eddy, Freeman. I've inked a couple of pages by him before - each one was a challenge as I tend to lean more towards brush inking, and Ruy Jose is a quill inker predominantly. Will definately give him another look though!

Hey everyone! If you get your hands on pencilled pages by Carlos Pacheco, I'd love to give it a try (and compete with Jesus Merino - yeah I know, I know...)!

I sincerely love the work of Miki and Vines but this was one example of how much Merino added to Pacheco's look....it isn't the same for me now. YMMV....

I think Pacheco was leaning on Jesus alot. Jesus is basically a slightly stiff version of Carlos ( with Jesus) Carlos on his own is a little bland style wise.
