Just wondering if anyone here attended the Virginia Comicon in Richmond, VA.
I was not able to attend due to personal plans to which I had commited. Also, there really wasn't wide spread advertising as far as I know, but that may be because I don't have cable TV...or satellite.....or FiOS...really...I don't have any TV! It was the first 2 day convention in VA in over 25 years, I believe. I'm curious as to the turnout and the overall feeling about the show. I'm hoping all went well so I can attend next year if there is to be another in 2010.
Any and all info is appreciated!

Hi guys~ I was at Va Con and DID see McKenna. Handsome guy that he is... ;D
Show was small, although I heard from other pro's that have been to the VaCons one day shows that attendance had tripled for this one. I havent made a killing at a con in any of the last 4 shows Ive been too, including, Balt, Boston and Big Crapple, so this was kinda like those.
Although at Baltimore last year, I made more money then any single show Ive done in my 24 yrs, so to measure up to that again was gonna be difficult. I do believe that Brett Carrerras, promoter is determined to make this show into something special and was a complete gentleman about treating us pro's like we mattered. He certainly has role models in Balt Con's Marc Nathan and Heroes Con's Shelton Drum to lead him in the right direction. Even had a panel where those 2 guys did a guest lecture. SMART!
He made sure we were all comfortable, hydrated and feed and is ULTRA polite. Im not 100% certain that having a separate room for the artists was a good idea it seemed to have half the energy that the dealer room had, but it was more a matter of hotel space , which might need to be addressed, as far as moving to a bigger venue is concerned.
All in all, I would do this show again. I like to see good guys succeed in that part of the business!

Mark
I really appreciate the recap/review of the show. I am truly sorry that I missed it. I will be there next year, so if you attend again, I promise to find some obscure Dark Horse project you worked on for you to sign....and I'll buy some art from you too! woot! ;D
