I only just started inking others pencils just last week. I ink my own stuff so nothing is ever wrong... that is until I started inking some pro pencils then all my flaws and foibles started presenting themselves. here have a gander. I did these last week. One a day basically till my Son got a cold. I printed them in blue-line at 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches, standard pare size. I printed them on 400 Strathmore 4-ply and 300 2 ply Bristol on my cheapo HP all in one. I'll list them as I inked them. Ed McGuinniss: Adam Hughes: Ed McGuinness again:

Pretty good really. Over time your control will improve as you keep it up. YOu should be working at 11x17 tho as it will present better in reduction.

Thanks Jay,I have about five more at this size to do then it's onto full sized versions. It's incredible how little room you have to make that line work when working at this scale. What's the Market like for Inkers? Or should I be learning digital inking. Thanks again.

I'm not a digital inking fan, & really its not a viable employment plan. If its diginked its done by the penciller or the colorist. Besides its always better to learn the actual skill before doing it in the computer as the computer is only a tool, no different than a pen or brush, just less accurate. There is work to be had as an inker, its just not easy to get. Keep working at it & you'll get there.

Thanks for that. Yeah not a huge digi ink fan either. I pencil a little, not sure it's up to pro level or not but I ink everything I need inked because.... well,.... I have to. Here are a few examples of inks from this year. I just discovered the Joe Weems Dvd and man has that ben helpful.

Did you pencil those? I think they are pretty good. I've got some down time in the next month, if you want to send me a scan of pencils at 300dpi or so, I would be willing to slap inks on it so you can see what someone else might do for you? It might help you with some decision making in your own inks.

Yup, Those be mine. Really? You want to add inks to my scribbles, I'd be honored. Here are 4, 300 dpi jpeg files. I lost the pencil scan to the Spidey/Blackcat in a hard disk crash a year ago. It took down my entire computer as well. *edit* I hope you downloaded the file you wanted already. I just renamed all my files and re-uploaded everything.

Here's what I did with that Wolverine pic. I stopped inking it when I messed up the wolves. That one looks like a Mandrill. Heh. One day I'll get out the ink eraser and redo the faces.

My drawing my inks. for some reason some lines look jagged. It's always something with this scanner. Had to fix a few things in the pencils before inking. I maybe should have worked the pencils a little bit more.

Some inks. I was working on Rittenhouse sketchcards for the last 3 months so no new stuff has been produced pencils or inks.

A Namor Pencil and ink. I sorta squatted the figure. Drawing those Sketch cards has messed with my proportions.
