How long does't take to ink a page?
« Thread Started on Aug 21, 2009, 11:46am »

I was reading through the comments and noticed a small theme. The time it takes to inks someone, Medina, Ebas, etc.
I've always considered myself a SLOW inker. I never really realized how slow until Andy Owens invited me over to work. Now I realize Scott McDaniels and Georges Jeanty aren't exactly detail crazy, but I think he averages 2 1/2 pages a day. I take about 10 -12 hours per page, no matter the artist.

So I'm just curious, how long does it take to ink the artist you guys have worked with or simply done samples over?

Alot of it depends on the artist for me.
I've done pages that I did 3 a day,but it was really minimal in detail and cartoony, but as with someone like Ebas it takes around a day and half.Recently I've been doing some pages for samples over Yildiray Cinar and I'm at about 8 to 10 hours a page.

Having said that you also have to keep in mind what else you have going on in your life.I drive my wife to and from work, and have a son home from school for the summer so that does eat up time out of the day.

I find though that the more I work over a penciler the quicker I get,and I think it's just becomes second nature to look at and say to yourself this is what he wanted to do and do it,rather than a mindset of experimenting with what you think he/she was thinking.

Hopefully that makes sense.I know others will probably come in and have their own little quirks as well.

the best & only real answer is as long as it takes, or as long as they give you to do it. whichever comes first.

I tend to average a page to a page and a half a day. But in a real crunch, I've been known to do 2 or more. After I get to 2 pages, it gets a little sloppy around the edges.
